Turner, Barlow & NOAC

1/10/2014

Standing under Phyllida Barlow's mad, wonderful structures was an interesting contrast to drifting between Turner's soft, subtle watercolours - both very satisfying experiences. In a completely different register, NOAC's show, presently at Somerset House, is well worth a look for a quick slice of variety & range of media. And tea on the terrace in the sunshine was rather pleasant too . . .

The last weekend of our annual Open Studios for Artwave is coming up (6th & 7th of September) at the Paddock Art Studios. We have had masses of visitors and are hoping for even more during the final two days. Great to see everyone & have such positive feedback.

I'm looking forward to seeing the RA Summer Show next week (and hoping the weather will be a little cooler . . .) and have also just booked tickets for Medea at the National which I'm sure will be gruelling but looks brilliant.

Great to see so many people at the private view yesterday of the annual Artists United show at the Foundry Gallery in Lewes - a gorgeous sunny evening & music as well. The exhibition is on this weekend, closing on Sunday.

I'm looking forward to the Affordable Art Fair in Hampstead this week. Last year it was pretty windy up there but well worth the trip!

Watched the film Tracks last night about Robyn Davidson's extraordinary trek across Australia accompanied by three adult camels, a baby camel and her faithful black labrador, Diggity. As well as being an amazing story the film is very beautiful, with oranges & ochres & yellows & blues . . .

A fun day at the de la Warre on Tuesday, going to see the exhibition 'I Cheer a Dead Man's Sweetheart'. Loved the Phoebe Unwins and enjoyed sitting on the terrace outside looking at the sea views.

I've been deciding which paintings to put in the Open House at fourknoyleroad & have decided to mix up the wolves with a few others including this one which I have always liked. This photo is a bit dark but if you'd like to see the original painting please come along !
